The Legend - Elzie Wylie "Buck" Baker
Buck Baker's illustrious career spans over four decades. A true icon of the racing sport, Buck is a member of 7 racing Hall of Fames, was voted one of the 50 greatest drivers of NASCAR, and was the first to win 2 Nextel Cup Championships back-to-back. Plus, his 46 victories and 44 poles clearly illustrate why he's such an important part of NASCAR's history*.
In 1980, Buck recognized the need for a racing school to teach up-and-coming drivers the techniques needed to compete, and formed the Buck Baker Racing School. Buck himself, solely developed the curriculum which has led to the successful training and accomplishments of some of our well known students like: Four-time Nextel Cup Champion, Jeff Gordon; 2002 Nextel Cup Champion, Tony Stewart; and 2002 Nextel Cup Rookie of the Year, Ryan Newman. That's why Buck considered the Buck Baker Racing School one of his proudest achievements.
